Mark Carl Burton Curtis, age 72, of Charlotte, formerly of Lansing, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Eaton Community Palliative Care. He was born August 29, 1949, in Lansing, the son of Everett and Marjorie (Mizener) Curtis. Mark graduated from Lansing Eastern High School with the class of 1967. Soon after graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he faithfully served his country. Mark had a passion for the game of golf and looked forward to playing whenever possible. He also enjoyed fishing, coin collecting, watching the Detroit Lions and MSU Spartans. Mark is survived by his children: Tod (Dana) Smith of Grand Ledge, Craig (Mindy) Smith of DeWitt, Jason (Angie) Smith of Charlotte, Stacy (Joe) Hart of Jenison, Melissa (Ray Young) Curtis of Georgia, Kevin Curtis of Lansing; his beloved dog, Scooch; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters: Marsha (John) Boyer of East Lansing, Amy Curtis of New Mexico, Cory (Jeff Ingersoll) Curtis of Barryton; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jan on May 8, 2020; and his precious dog, Ivy. Funeral services for Mark will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022, at 1 P.M. at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Lansing.
