Marvin J. Baker, age 72, of Charlotte, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. He was born January 20, 1951, in Ionia, MI the son of Lyle and Pearl (Bowen) Baker. Marvin had a big heart, hearty laugh and jolly sense of humor. He was a friend to everyone he encountered on his journey through life. He was known as “Precious/Red Dog” by his coworkers at GM. Marvin was a good cook and baker, making bread for those he loved most. He was often times referred to as the “bread man”. He enjoyed walking pool laps at the aquatic center, classic cars, especially his orange road runner, attending car shows, and road trips, especially to West Virginia.


Marvin is survived by his son, Shane Matthew Baker; special friend, Esther Renault; sister, Susan Sutherland; and brother, Sam Baker.


He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy in 2006; brother, Richard Baker in 2011; and sister-in-law, Jessie Baker in 2015.


Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at Charlotte Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1516 S. Cochran Rd., Charlotte, MI, on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at 11:00 AM.
