Mary Ellen Weaver Eberly was born August 24, 1931, to Edwin and Lena (Wenger) Weaver, at the old home place on Green Beaver Road, Columbiana, Ohio. She passed away peacefully at Maple View Assisted Living in Ithaca, Michigan on May 26, 2020, at eighty-eight years of age. She grew up with seven siblings and had a happy childhood. She received her education at the Greenford School, Greenford, Ohio. As a girl, her parents diligently taught her right from wrong. At a young age she gave her heart to the Lord and it was her desire to do the Lords will in all things. Mary Ellen was married to Willis Eberly on August 15, 1953, on the front porch of her parents new home on Green Beaver Road. They enjoyed a happy marriage for sixty-seven years. There came a time when Dad and Mom felt the Lord leading them to the Church of God in Christ Mennonite. Upon the confession of their faith they were baptized at the Rock of Ages Congregation in Kidron, Ohio on July 30, 1967, by Minister Robert Holdeman. She found joy in serving the Lord and remained faithful to her vows until the end. Mary Ellen was a very devoted, fun loving wife and mother. She supported Dad in all his pursuits including the dairy farm. As a young couple they spent two years in Beltsville, Maryland where Dad gave his time of 1-W service. While there they formed lifelong friendships. In later years they took many tract tours together and spent some time in Newfoundland, Canada and Harrison, Michigan. They took two European Tours and a trip to Brazil to visit family. They especially enjoyed their daughters as they were growing up, then traveling to see them as they married and moved away. It was difficult to see the last one go, but they loved their children and wanted only the Lords will for each of them. As their sons-in-law were welcomed into the family, each one filled a very special place in their heart. We as a family had enjoyable outings together, went hiking and were taught the love of nature. Mom was fond of bird watching and flowers. She was a very good cook and hosted many visitors through the years. When they retired, they enjoyed their new house, the greenhouses and meeting the people in that interesting work. When Dad and Mom were married, they lived on Dads home place on Church Road, Orrville, Ohio. In May of 2014, Mom, needing more care that Dad was able to give her at home, moved to Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Dalton, Ohio. She shared the same room with her sister, Edith, until Edith passed away a week later. On January 20, 2016, the Lord made a way for Mom and Dad to move to Maple View Assisted Living to be close to their daughter, Grace. The family is very grateful for the loving care Mom received by Dad, Grace and David, Shane Reiff and staff at Maple View Assisted Living, and Jackie from The Care Team. She is survived by me, Willis, and seven daughters; Lois and Chester Toews, St. Marys, Ontario; Ellen and Russell Toews, Moorefield, Ontario; Grace and David Mininger, Ithaca, Michigan; Lenore and Lester Penner, Perrysville, Ohio; Irene and Randy Holdeman, Tutwiler, Mississippi; Annette and Anthony Eicher, Faunsdale, Alabama; Catherine and Chris Unruh, Grandview, Idaho: twenty-nine grandchildren and fifty great grandchildren. Mary Ellen has two dear sisters, Sara Weaver of Columbiana, Ohio and Anna Katherine and George Reesor of Stouffville, Ontario. She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, two sisters and spouses, three brothers and spouses, and Dads five sisters and spouses. For the safety of Willis Eberly and Maple View Assisted Living the ushers will be managing the crowd flow. Social distancing will be observed. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2020, at 2:30 P.M. at the Rock of Ages Mennonite Church, 4451 S. Kansas Road, Apple Creek, Ohio, with Ministers Luke Troyer, John Martin, and Phil Schrock officiating. The family will receive friends for a viewing from 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. at the church on Sunday just prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
