Mary L. Fullerton Roper of Charlotte, age 85 passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2013. Mary was born June 23, 1928 in Ann Arbor, MI the daughter of Lester D. and Winifred (Carter) King and was a life resident of Eaton County. She was a 1947 Graduate of Olivet High School. She was married to George Fullerton and they lived on the Farm and had three children, Barbara Fullerton now of Charlotte, Roger Fullerton of Wyoming and Linda Fullerton of Florida. After the children were grown, she became a Red Cross Volunteer at Hayes-Green-Beach Hospital. Always interested in Nursing, she took nurses training at the Hospital and worked there for many years. Later she started working at the Eaton Manor Nursing Home for some time. She had also worked at Mr. & Mrs. Dick Krebs Adult Foster Care Home until it closed. Mary spent her life taking care of others and pets. The need for in home care came about so she took care of people in their homes. Still having her beloved poodles, she sometimes took them to visit patients who enjoyed them. She had been a member of the First Congregational Church of Charlotte having served on the Wedding committee, was a member of the choir and other church activities. She later joined the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and delivered tapes of Sunday services to shut ins. In addition to her children, Mary is survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Leah Sparks of Charlotte and Donna (Roger) Reed of Charlotte; God Daughter, Candy Woofter and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Lester and Winifred King, a sister, Doris Andrews and her husband, Delbert Roper to whom she was married in 2004 and who died 30 days prior to her death. Mary has now gone home to join her beloved pets that she has missed for so many years. At Mary’s request, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A Memorial service will be held at 6:30 P.M. Monday, October 7, 2013 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home of Charlotte with Pastor Gary Wales of the Lawrence Ave. United Methodist Church officiating.
