Matthew Greggory Combs

Matthew G. Combs, age 34, of Charlotte, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021. He was born February 7, 1987, in Lansing the son of Mark Wayne Redfield and Aimee Elizabeth Combs. Matt graduated from Charlotte High School with the class of 2005. Soon after graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country in the war effort in Afghanistan. Matt loved his children and cherished spending time together with them. He enjoyed camping and spending time outdoors around a camp fire. Matt was a huge MSU Spartan fan and also enjoyed woodworking. Matt is survived by his sons: Tyler Combs, Denver Combs, Gunnar Combs; daughter, Avery Kirkbride; siblings: Kayla (Vernon) Costello, Joseph Rood, Edmund Rood, Billy (Kailee) Johnson, Stephanie Mathews, Brandon Redfield, Bella Redfield; parents: Mark (Beth) Redfield, Aimee Combs; grandfather, Harold Carpenter; and many special aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Noah Combs; grandmothers: Linda Carpenter, Martha Curtis; and grandfather, Harold Combs. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 26, 2021, at 11 A.M. at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home just prior to the service. A luncheon will follow at the American Legion Post 42 in Charlotte.
