Maxine B. Baun, age 96, of Charlotte passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019. Maxine was born March 16, 1923 in Pleasant Grove, Illinois, the daughter of Patrick and Eva (Best) Toomey. She attended Cleary College in Howell, Michigan earning her Business Degree. Maxine married Howard Maurer in Lansing on November 10, 1942. They were happily married until Howards untimely passing in 1966. She then married Orvel Baun in Olivet, Michigan, on July 10, 1968. They enjoyed 18 happy years together until his death in 1986. Maxine enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Maxine was a lover of nature. She enjoyed the farming life and all the joys that came with it. She could often be found tending her flower garden or watching her birds. Maxine had many friends that she enjoyed spending time with playing cards. Maxine is survived by her children, Marcia (Michael) Petersen of Olivet, Carl (Amy) Maurer of Battle Creek, and Linda Sowle of Holt; grandchildren, Maureen (Jacob Solomon) Petersen, Leslie (Jason) Fields, Nicholas Maurer, Brett Wilmore, and Jeremy Wilmore; great grandchildren: Carsen Fields, Emani Sims, and Jackson Wilmore; brother, Donald (Cynthia) Toomey of Fowlerville; sister-in-law, IvaJean Wilmore; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Howard Maurer and Orvel Baun; sisters, Mary Howell and Margaret Newsted; brothers, Patrick Toomey and Robert Toomey; and granddaughter, Monica Petersen. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 1 P.M. at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home with Reverend Tom Evans officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. and one hour prior to the service on Monday, both at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Perry Cemetery.
