Maxine E Baker

Maxine E. (Russell) Baker, age 90 of Olivet, MI, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012 at the Golden Days AFC home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Baker was born Jan. 25, 1922 at Ithaca, MI the daughter of Willis Irving and Mary Marguerite (Plowfield) Russell and had been an Olivet area resident for over 70 years. She was a 1940 Graduate of Olivet High School, had previously attended the Five Corners Union Church and the Chester Gospel Church, was a former Walton Township Clerk and had been a member of the Olivet O. E. S. and the Olivet Grange. She loved gardening and canning and was well known for her Strawberry Jam. Surviving are her six Children, Gary (Carolyn) Baker of Trenton, FL, Larry (Alma) Baker of Olivet, Terry (Kathryn) Baker of Dimondale, Dale Baker of Charlotte, Douglas (Deborah) Baker of Battle Creek and Cheryl (Sam) Odom of Olivet; 21 Grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; numerous great great grandchildren; sisters, Marianna Wells of Charlotte and Barbara Gellasch of Old Town, FL and brothers, Jacob Willis Russell of Charlotte and Joseph Lee Russell of Olivet. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Ivan Dale Baker; sisters, Ruth Van Liew and Audrey Rice; infant brothers, Richard & Philip Russell and daughter-in-law, Cynthia Baker. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A. M. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Pastor Mark Woodbury officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may go to the McLaren Hospice or the Eaton Community Palliative Care.
