Melba Lavern French
March 2, 1927 — July 8, 2023
Melba L. French, age 96, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 8, 2023. She was born March 2, 1927, in Dothan, Alabama the daughter of Wade and Lonny (Smith) Lee. Melba was a hard worker all of her life. She could often be found working in the kitchen or cleaning her home. She always saw to it that her family was well cared for.
Melba is survived by her daughter, Patsy Towe of Charlotte; son, Tom Wells of Roseville; 3 grandchildren; brother, Wayne (Barb) Lee of Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gaylen French; and daughter, Betty Lou Wells.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at 2 P.M. at the Gresham Cemetery with Pastor Charles Jenson officiating.
