Melodie Ann (Mallison) Barber, age 55, of Bath, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2024, after a long battle with Muscular Dystrophy. She was born April 13, 1969, in Lansing, Michigan to George l. and Patrica (LeMire) Mallison. She attended Grand Ledge High School graduating in 1987. She then attended Grand Valley State University, graduating with a BS in Medical Technology. She then worked at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing as a medical technician. She worked until she was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy and had to retire. She was a devoted lifelong Catholic and a member of the Catholic Community of Saint Jude in DeWitt. She loved her dog, Beau very much and cherished his company. Melodie enjoyed sitting on her patio watching birds and other wildlife. She also loved to read and paint while watching Bob Ross. Melodie was always ready to talk, smile and laugh with her family and friends. She loved everyone and everyone loved her.


She was preceded in death by; her mother, Patricia Root; and her grandparents.


Our wonderful, beautiful, smiling daughter Melodie was loved greatly by her parents, George and Janet Mallison; stepsons, Nick (Brianna) Barber, Alex (Margie) Barber; grandchildren, Caroline, Amelia, Lorenz, and Kai; her best friend and wonderful caregiver for 15 years, Karen Wainright; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. She will be greatly missed and leaves a big hole in all our hearts.


MAY SHE REST IN PEACE WITH OUR LORD AND SAVIOR. AMEN!


A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 11 A.M. at the Catholic Community of St. Jude 801 N. Bridge St., DeWitt, MI 48820 with Msgr. Bernard Reilly, Rev. Fr. Enzo Addari, Rev. Fr. David Speicher, and Rev. Fr. Patrick Stoffer celebrating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the church with the Rosary being prayed at 7:30 P.M. and one hour prior to Mass on Thursday. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lansing.
