Menzo C. Howe, age 92 of Charlotte, MI, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the Golden Days AFC Home. Menzo was born May 28, 1920 in Reed City, Michigan the son of Chester and Beulah (Rice) Howe and had been a Charlotte area resident most of his life. He was a 1939 Graduate of Charlotte High School and had served in the Michigan Army National Guard out of Charlotte. He was owner/operator of Menzo Howe Excavating Business and the “You Lock It” Mini Storage. Previously he served as an Eaton County Sheriff’s Deputy and a Charlotte City Policeman. Surviving are: 2 daughters, Jeanette (Steven) Smith of Charlotte and Jacalyn (Dale) Goodrich of Inman, SC; 5 grandchildren, Karen (Joel) Weever of Charlotte, Shannon Budd of Charlotte, Christopher Smith of Charlotte, Shawn (Amanda) Goodrich of Atlanta, GA and Laura Goodrich of Portland, OR; great grandchildren, Ethan Weever, Jacob Weever and Tobin Goodrich; 2 brothers, Louis (Rosemary) Howe and Eldon Howe both of Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Phyllis (Cochrane) Howe in 2003 and brothers, Garland and Bart Howe. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P. M. Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Rev. Arthur Salisbury officiating. Interment will be in the Gresham Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M at the Funeral Home.
