Milton C Simmons, "Milt", 83, of Charlotte, MI, passed away on May 23, 2020, at Eaton Community Palliative Care. Milt was born on December 10, 1936, to Ray M and Helen Maude (Hartman) Simmons in Cass County, MI. Milt was born to a farming family in Jones, MI. He spent the first part of his life taking care of livestock and plowing fields. He enlisted in the National Guard and became a sharp shooter. Later in life, Milt was a police officer for the Cassopolis Police Department and was a volunteer fireman. He retired from the State of Michigan as a manager in the driver improvement department. Milt had many hobbies ranging from hunting and stock car racing in his younger years to country line dancing and bowling as he matured. He was a big NASCAR fan and loved Dale Earnhardt Sr. Milt was a kind man who could talk to anyone. He offered help to those in need and was generous to a fault. He knew a little bit about everything from carpentry to plumbing, automotive to electrical. He passed on his knowledge to anyone who needed it. Milt is survived by his wife of 41 years, Merry Simmons; Sons: Doug (Leighann) Simmons and Jerry (Chris) Krizinski; Daughters: Micky Savage and Marci (Andy) Rinehart; Grandchildren: Misti (Tim) Rambo, Dylan, Andi Catherine, and Alyx Katherine Rinehart, Brian Simmons and family; and great-grandchildren: Marleigh and Wyatt Rambo. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Debbie Simmons. There will be a private graveside service for the family at Poe Cemetery in Jones, MI.
