Monroe Collins of Marshall, MI, age 84, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, Feb. 6, 2015 at his residence. Monroe was born April 20, 1930 at Royalton in Magoffin County, Kentucky the son of Boon and Lola (Perkins) Collins and had lived most of his life in the Marshall, Olivet and Partello area. He honorably served in the U. S. Navy from 1948-52 and was a retired employee of Tenneco Corporation of Marshall. He was a faithful member of the Church Of God in Albion. Surviving are: six children, Richard (Catherine) Collins, Barbara (Darryl) Bradley, Emzy (Kathryn) Collins, Melinda (Mark) Lahn, Rochelle (Reni) Rocco and Lisa (Brad) Miller; 19 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Ashlan Collins and Winford (Norma) Collins and 2 sisters, Ann Lou Davidson and Mary Jane (Ron) Montayne. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Dorothy Louise (Donaldson) Collins in 2010 and great grandson, Daniel Schmidt. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte with Pastor Douglas Hammond officiating and with Military honors provided by the U. S. Navy. Interment will be in the Rice Creek Cemetery in Lee Township of Calhoun County. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of services at the funeral home.
