Murl Leo Cox age 79 of Albion, MI, died Monday, Oct. 12, 2009 at his residence after a short illness. Leo was born July 23, 1930 in Step Rock, Arkansas, the son of Melvin L. and Maude (Cullum) Cox. He was a retired groundsman for Albion College, was a member of the Grace Freewill Baptist Church of Albion and the Marshall Moose Lodge. He was a musician having played in a Band for Square Dances in various places for many years and sang in Church on Sunday. Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Julietta (Ripley) Cox and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Albert Sharp, Carl Cox, Burl Cox, Alonzo Cox, Calvin Cox, Willard Cox and Charles Cox; sister, Maxine Cox and half sister, Olcel. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Friday, Oct. 16, 2009 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Pastor Earl Martin and Pastor Ellis Howard officiating. Interment will be in the Lee Center Cemetery, Lee Township, Calhoun County. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may go to the Oaklawn Hospice.
