Paul Arthur Stults age 90 of Weslaco, TX, formerly of Charlotte, passed away November, 15, 2010 at Knapp Memorial Hospital, Weslaco, TX. Paul was born in Calhoun County, Michigan May 29, 1920, the oldest son of Orma and Hilda Stults. He graduated from Vermontville High School, Vermontville, MI and served in the U. S. Army, including central Europe, from 10-24-44 to 4-24-46. He was proficient during his lifetime as a plasterer, construction worker, small equipment operator, and press operator. He also taught small engine repair for Adult Education. He was a Special Deputy for Eaton County Sheriff’s Department for about four years before becoming a full time Deputy for Eaton County from 1-1-51 to 4-20-59, being appointed UnderSheriff from 1-1-57 to 4-20-59. He was a Sargeant for the Charlotte, Michigan City Police from 1964 to 1969 and a Dispatcher with the City Police from 1972 to 1980. He retired in 1980. He and his wife, Mavis, became Winter Texans in 1986 settling in Weslaco, TX. He was active in the many winter activities, becoming very proficient in Shuffleboard. They became permanent Texas residents in 2005. He leaves to mourn his loss: his wife of 50 years, Mavis; Six children: Gary (Yvonne) Stults, Kenneth (Diane) Stults, Joan (David) Harris, Robert Stults, all of Charlotte, MI, Jean (Paul) Dodds of Florida and Eileen (Troy) Ten Eyck of Nashville, MI; Stepchildren: Chaplain (Col.) Craig (Jean) Wiley of Georgia, Paula (Steve) Heilman and Mark Wiley of Charlotte, MI; Brother, Charles (June) Stults of Charlotte, MI; 16 Grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
