Peggy M. Bruce Profile Photo

Peggy Modena Bruce, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, formerly of Charlotte, went to be with the Lord very peacefully while at home surrounded by her family on Sept 11, 2019, following a lengthy illness. She was born on June 18, 1928 in Urbanette, Arkansas to Norine (Mills) Fink. Her family moved to Michigan when she was 8 years old. As a young girl she enjoyed playing the piano and tap dancing. She married the love of her life, Tom Bruce Jr, on New Years Eve of 1955. They were married 44 years before he went to be with the Lord. She was employed by Aluminum Extrusions in Charlotte for almost 14 years; however, she found the greatest fulfillment in being a homemaker. Peg looked forward to family gatherings. She liked to cook & bake and everyone enjoyed the fruits of her labors. Peg loved to laugh and she liked cutting up with family and friends. Her smile and great sense of humor will be part of her legacy. Peg was drawn to babies and was excited to learn recently that another great great-grandchild is on the way. She is survived by 2 sons: Roy Steven Willoughby of Michigan, and John (Toni) Willoughby of Florida; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren (with another one on the way). Peg was preceded in death by her mother Norine (Mills) Fink; step father Ted Fink; husband, Tom Bruce Jr; and son, Gary Willoughby. She was loved by many and she will be missed. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 12 P.M. at the Burkhead - Green - Kilgo Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A graveside service will immediately follow at Bosworth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those desiring, may make memorial contributions in Pegs memory to the International Mission Board - "please note, it's a memorial gift in honor of Peggy Bruce" (www.imb.org) or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) May God richly bless you!
