Raymond Durelle Arnold, Sr.
August 9, 1945 — February 21, 2023
Raymond DuRelle Arnold Sr., age 77, of Lansing, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. He was born August 9, 1945, in Miami, Florida, the only child of James and Elma Mae (Griffin) Arnold. Ray graduated from high school in 1964 in Milledgeville, Georgia. He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Leon Campbell, soon after graduation on November 5, 1964. Ray enjoyed bowling in his younger years and most recently loved playing golf. He also enjoyed playing BINGO with Shirley. Ray retired after 30 years of service from Motor Wheel in Lansing. He then went on to work for DART Container for 10 years. Ray cherished his family and adored spending time together with them.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley; daughter, Sherry (Freddie Jr.) Rodriguez of Lansing; son, Raymond (Lisa) Arnold Jr. of Lansing; six grandchildren: Alejandro Medina, Rey Medina, Sierra Medina, Raymond Arnold III, Austin Arnold, Taylor Arnold; and six great grandchildren: Jordyn Medina, Aubrie Medina, Sarayniti Soto, Jesus Soto, Malakai Soto, and Rosalia Medina.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and great grandson, Jaime Soto Jr.
In keeping with Ray’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
