Raymond E. Burley, of Charlotte, MI, age 97, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2011. Ray was born May 20, 1914 in Howell, Michigan the son of Nicholas and Hazel (Caskey) Burley and had been a Charlotte resident for over 60 years. He was self employed in the waste management/recycling business and had also been a School Bus driver in the Charlotte School System. He was a member of the First Congregational Church UCC, a member of the Moose Lodge and thoroughly enjoyed dancing every opportunity he got. Surviving are: one son, Floyd (Pat) Burley of Charlotte; two daughters, Pat (Bob) Stahl of The Villages, Florida and Hazel (Ronald) Hamilton of Charlotte; seven grandchildren, Kathy (Jeff) Rosenbrook, Terry (Diane) Hamilton, Todd Hamilton, Michelle (David) Gloor, Troy (Chris) Burley, Vickie (Terry) Griffith and Wayne (Julie) Nash; 17 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Harriett Burley of Mason. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Helen E. Burley in 1992; companion, Gladys Curtis; 3 brothers, Lavern, Art and Ed Burley and 2 sisters, Margaret Dunkel and Pauline White. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Rev. Philip Hobson officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may go to the First Congregational Church or to Eaton Community Hospice.
