Richard E. Schofield of Olivet, MI, age 81 died Sunday June 24, 2012. Mr. Schofield was born April 5, 1931 in Cardington, OH the son of Virgil M. and Pearl (Frazier) Schofield. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was a retired employee of General Motors in Lansing with 20 years of service. Surviving are: 3 children, Steve Schofield of Bellevue, Linda Finnerty of Olivet and Richard M. (Marlene) Schofield of Olivet; 8 grandchildren, Danielle Schofield, Steven Schofield, Sara Finnerty, Amanda (Nick) Mulkey, Richard Schofield, Misty & Travis Carpenter and Rochelle Napier; numerous great grandchildren; 3 step children, Shirley Alvord of Lansing, Ann (Dick) Flora of Niles and Ivan (Penny) Slauson of Union City; 2 brothers, Donald Schofield of Marion, OH and Virgil Schofield, Jr. of Mt. Gilead, OH and nieces & nephews, Nickalous Schofield, Ashley Schofield, Deanna Beyer and Dawn Schofield. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Violet Schofield, Step daughter, Jerilyn Gabos, son-in-law, Peter Alvord and grandchildren, Jessica & Robert Finnerty. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may go to the Eaton Community Palliative Care.
