Robert C. Kiplinger age 92 of East Lansing, formerly of Charlotte, died peacefully at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan in Lansing on Friday, October 16, 2009. Mr. Kiplinger was born at 229 Clinton St. in Charlotte, May 1, 1917 the son of Clarence H. and Jessie E. (Weaver) Kiplinger. He was employed by Oldsmobile in plant engineering and retired in 1975 after 34 years of service. He was a life member Charlotte Masonic Lodge #120, a Knight Templar, and a devoted Shriner, having made over 150 trips transporting children to the Shrine Hospital in Chicago. He is survived by a daughter, Judith R. (Duane) Vernon of Lansing: a son H. Charles (Kathleen Pearson) Kiplinger of Kalamazoo; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary J. (Carman) Kiplinger on Nov. 1, 2001 and a brother, R. Dale Kiplinger Oct. 21, 1998. Visitation will from 2-6 P.M. Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009 at the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church with Rev. Karen Wheat officiating. Inurnment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery following the Memorial service and luncheon.
