Robert Stanley Dumire, age 81, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at his home. He was born September 8, 1942, in Pierce, West Virginia the son of Otis “William” and Katherine (Shillingburg) Dumire. On February 6, 1963, he married Dorothy Virginia Sisler in Oakland, Maryland. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He had a passion for cooking his entire life and enjoyed nothing more than a good meal around the table with family and friends. Bob owned and operated Giovanni’s Pizza in Morgantown, WV and prior to that he worked as a chef at Hotel Morgan. In his spare-time he enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, grilling, or going on picnics. Bob retired after over 30 years of service from Demmer Corporation in Lansing.
Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy; son, Eric Dumire of Lansing, daughter, Amy E. Betts, of Charlotte; son, David Dumire of Charlotte; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Jack (Betty) Dumire of Morgantown, WV, Bill (Ann) Dumire of Jacksonville, FL; and brother-in-law, Gene Roby of Bruceton Mills, West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Scott Dumire; and sister, Margie Roby of West Virginia.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 11 A.M. at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
