Robert Lee Elston

Robert Lee Elston of Potterville, MI, age 81, died Friday May 22, 2015 at the McLaren-Greater Lansing Hospital after an extended illness. Robert was born March 13, 1934 in Eaton Rapids, MI the son of Samuel D. and Lela (Harmon) Elston and was a lifelong Eaton County resident. He served in the U. S. Army 82nd Airborne Division from 1954-56 and had been employed at Oldsmobile Division of General Motors from where he retired in 1984 after 31 years and 8 months of service. Surviving are: his wife of 47 years, Carolyn (Brooke) Elston; son, Jeffrey Robert (Cheri) Elston of Charlotte; daughter, Jody Lee McClelland of Eagle; 5 grandchildren, Ashley, Faye, Troy, Niki and Rebecca; 2 great grandchildren, Kayden and Alayna and 1 sister, Virginia (Roy) Brooks of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and 7 brothers and sisters. A Graveside/Chapel service will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the Chapel Hill Cemetery in Lansing with Rev. Timothy Covert officiating. Memorial contributions may go to the Parkinson’s Foundation or to the Charity of Ones Choice.
