Robert W. Johnson of Charlotte, Michigan age 76 died Tuesday, May 3, 2011 in Grand Rapids after a short illness. Bob was born Nov. 20, 1934 in Charlotte, the son of Darrel and Josephine (Richard) Johnson and was a lifelong Charlotte resident. He was a 1952 Graduate of Charlotte High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University. Bob was retired from the Lumber Industry and his current passion was antiques, including the 29th Street Antiques in Grand Rapids and opening a new Antique Mall in Lake Odessa. He had been awarded the “Young Man Of The Year Award by the Charlotte Jaycees, was a Charlotte Rotary Club past president having received their Community Service award, had served on the Charlotte School Board and the Board of Michigan National Bank. He served on the Board of Trustees and was Moderator of the First Congregational Church, was a member of the Hayes-Green-Beach Hospital Board, served as an Eaton County Commissioner and had served on the Tri-County Mental Health Board. Bob is survived by: his wife of 55 years, Marian (Wood) Johnson; four children, Steve (Jo) Johnson, Sue (Bob) Laurie, Ken (Susan) Johnson and Carolyn (Larry) Casler; nine grandchildren, Wes & Mandy Johnson, Kristin Laurie, Allison & Scott Polick, Sarah & Scott Johnson and Nichole & Matt Casler and brothers, Richard (Donna) Johnson and Edward Johnson. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Rev. Lawrence Wood officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 P. M. and Saturday from 10:00 A. M. until time of services at the Funeral Home.
