Ronald Dale Henry, age 84, of Battle Creek formerly of Olivet, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born August 15, 1932 in Battle Creek the son of Harold R. and Wilma A. (Struble) Henry. Ron graduated from Lansing Everett High School in 1949. He then went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After he returned from active duty he enrolled in MSU for three years. Ron worked as an engineer for Oldsmobile in Lansing and retired after many years of service. He was an active member of the Olivet Congregational Church, Olivet Lions Club, and the Olivet School Board where he also served as President for three years. Ron was a skilled craftsman, who enjoyed woodworking. Ron is survived by his wife of 62 years Nancy (Beck); children: Michael Henry of Petoskey, Julee (Wayne) Harmon of Springport, Ronna (Jeff) Henry of Battle Creek; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister Liz (Bob) Yago of Fowlerville; Danish children: Peter and Jette Elgaard of Denmark; brother-in-law Fred (Karen) Beck; sisters-in-law: Shirley Henry, Linda Henry; and adopted daughter Donetta (Billy) White. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Tink Henry and Gordy Henry. Please join Ron’s family for a celebration of life service to be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11 AM at the Olivet Congregational Church in Olivet with Rev. Jack Brown officiating. A light luncheon will immediately follow the service at the church. Those desiring may make contributions in Ron’s memory to the VA Medical Center in Battle Creek.
