Ronald (Ron) Dean Litwiller was born on January 8, 1951, to Ardis and Rosalie Gearig Litwiller of Middleton, Michigan. On March 9, 2022, at the age of 71, he passed from this life at the Banner Boswell Medical Center at Sun City, Arizona. Ron and Carol had gone to enjoy a couple months of the pleasant warmth of Arizona away from the cold and snow of Michigan. Ron grew to manhood on the family farm near Middleton, Michigan. There he learned to enjoy nature and his love of raising livestock grew. He took that knowledge and love of cattle all through his life, first as a dairy farmer and then in raising beef. He loved to watch things grow in his yard and fields. In the late part of the Vietnam War he served a short term of alternative service in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the university hospital. Upon his return home, he became a dairyman and obtained numerous awards in milk production through the years. In 1974 he met Beth Moomey and was married to her on August 29,1975. To this union were born three sons, Jed, Kevin, and Dustin. Ron and Beth were married for just over 38 years before her sudden passing on February 2, 2014. We remember Dad as a busy man. We boys spent many hours with Dad, crowding the tractor cab and making bale tunnels in the hay mow of the old barn. Dad’s life was not without adversity. Two difficult events of his life stand out to us. In an accident with a horse and some loose cattle, he lost some fingers on his right hand. Later in life he sustained a broken spine when he fell while bow hunting. We boys and Mom did our best to keep the farm operating while he recovered. He was always pushing recovery to its limits, trying to get back to work. At mom’s passing, Dad was blessed with much love and support. Through this he found his way back to the church of his childhood. With many of his friends and family present, he renewed his vows with the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. Here he was happy and at rest. Dad spent many lonely hours and prayed often for another companion. In the summer of 2015, he took a trip to Wisconsin where he met Carol Helms. They were married on March 5, 2016. They shared a deep love for each other for six precious years. He deeply appreciated the closeness and acceptance he felt from Carol’s family. Together Ron and Carol enjoyed traveling and he loved to meet new friends. Ron was struggling with the thought of retirement, but God decided that for him. Some of his last words were, “God will take care of me.” Though we do not understand why he had to leave so soon, we know our Father understands all things. Left behind with broken hearts are his wife, Carol; sons: Jed, Kevin, and Dustin; one grandson: Zane; father: Ardis Litwiller; brothers: Raymond and Gladys Litwiller, Kendall Litwiller; sisters: Carol and Paul Schultz, Gaila and Van Litwiller, Bonetta and Abe Loewen, Phyllis and Jon Schmidt. Carol’s family: mother: Jean Helms; brothers: Randy and Salina Helms, Terry and Cindy Helms, Grant and Brigette Helms; and sister: Glenda and Keith Wiebe. Preceding him in death were his first wife and his mother. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022, at 10:30 A.M. at the Newark Mennonite Church with Ministers Jeff Litwiller, Darin Litwiller, and Keith Litwiller officiating.
