Ronald L. Johnson

Ronald L. Johnson, age 82 of Charlotte, MI, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 21, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bonnie Johnson; his four children, Richie (Sue Ann), JoNesta (Dale) Thompson, Janice (Donald) Williams and Michael. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, brother, Duane (Buck) Johnson and sister, Royetta McGilvra. He was pre-deceased by his parents, brother Alan and granddaughter Erica. He was born in Jackson, Michigan to Roy and DeEtta Johnson and graduated from Jackson High School. Ron honorably served in the U. S. Army from 1950 to 1952 and then retired from Michigan Bell Telephone after 35 years of service in 1983. Ron was a member and officer of the Charlotte Kiwanis Club and a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 40 years. He is best remembered for his sense of humor, love of family camping, fishing and woodworking. During many summer camping trips to Rocky’s campground, you could find him at his favorite spot, playing horseshoes. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Pastor Mark Booth officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
