Ruby Bergstad

Ruby Ann Bergstad, age 73, of Charlotte, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022. She was born February 2, 1948, in Thompson, Iowa the daughter of John and Alice (Dickson) Bergstad. In 1953, at the age of 5, Ruby and her 10 siblings were brought to the VFW Children’s Home in Eaton Rapids from Thompson, Iowa. She went on to graduate from Eaton Rapids High School in 1966. Ruby was employed at Owens-Illinois in Charlotte for over 30 years. She was an extremely generous person, always thinking of others ahead of herself. Ruby loved her family and especially cherished the relationships she had with her nieces and nephews. She always had a smile on her face and could bring joy to whom ever she was with. Ruby was a huge MSU fan and enjoyed rooting on the Spartans. Ruby is survived by her siblings: Sally (Robert) McConnell of Potterville, Dolores Frank of Hastings, Phyllis Carroll of Boca Raton, Florida, Helen Boatman of Weidman, Michigan, Penny Bergstad of Charlotte, Kathryn Pierce of Lansing; brother-in-law, Bill Connor of Eaton Rapids; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Bonnie Connor, Jeanette Moore; brothers: Jon Bergstad, Ken Bergstad; and brothers-in-law: William Carroll and Robert Moore. In keeping with Ruby’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled at this time.
