Senia Jean Rev. Taipale

Rev. Senia J. Taipale, age 68, of Lansing MI died Thursday January 25th, 2018. She was born April 29, 1949, in Warren, Ohio the daughter of Taito and Janice (White) Taipale. She was proud to have been given the opportunity to be raised in a Finnish-American family. After attending Wittenberg University, she attained a Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling and worked as a Financial Director in 3 Colleges. From 1983 -1987, Senia attended Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus Ohio. Graduating with a Master of Divinity, she then went on to pastor in Northeast Ohio for three years. Later she pursued 2 years of advanced training in Clinical Pastoral Care at Cleveland Clinic. From 1992-2010, she was Director of Pastoral Care at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. In 1986 Senia met Jo Hartwell and they have been together for 31 years. On December 6, 2015 they were married at All Saints Episcopal Church in East Lansing. Senia and Jo have lived in the Groesbeck area for 25 years. They enjoy sharing their home with their three poodles. Senias main interests throughout her life have been reading, the Church, choir, and interacting with people. Senia was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her spouse, Jo Hartwell; brother, Roger Taipale; and niece, Jenna Taipale. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday March 10, 2018 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 800 Abbot Road, East Lansing, MI 48823 with Rt. Rev. Craig Satterlee Presider and Rev. Dr. Kit Carlson Preacher. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and at a reception following the service. Inurnment will take place at the All Saints Memorial Garden.
