Shirley G. Pittenger, age 84 of Independence Village, Grand Ledge, MI, died Saturday, May 11, 2013 at her residence. Shirley was born October 4, 1928 in Charlotte, MI the daughter of John and Elsie (Dobratz) Pittenger. She was a Graduate of Charlotte High School, had served in the U. S. Navy WAVES and was a Graduate of Michigan Technological University in Houghton, MI. She had been employed as a Research Chemist for the Michigan Department of Public Health for over 25 years from where she retired.Shirley was a member of Clown Alley and was a Deplomat for Project For A Perfect World with Dr. Patch Adams involving trips to Moscow & St. Petersburg, Russia. She enjoyed world traveling. Survivors include: many nieces and nephews including, Ann (James) LeMay, Nicole LeMay, Jeremiah Fritz & family, Sue DeAlmieda & family, Jim LeMay & family, Sharon & Gary Russell, Jeff Russell & family, Carol Sams & family, Doug Murray, Troy Murray & family and Shawn Murray & family; sister-in-law, Barbara Pittenger and many other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Pittenger in 1996. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 P. M. Monday, May 20, 2013 at the Independence Village Community Room, 4775 Village Drive, Grand Ledge, Mich. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may go to Hospice Advantage, 801 S.
