Spencer John Drake

Spencer John Drake, age 49, of Lansing, formerly of DeWitt, passed away peacefully with his family by his side of Tuesday, January 17, 2023. He was born December 26, 1973, in Lansing the son of Raymond and Karen (Werner) Drake. Spencer graduated from DeWitt High School with the Class of 1992. After high school he pursued a career in aviation and worked the majority of his life as an aviation technician. Family was very important to Spencer. He cherished his wife, children, parents, siblings, and nephews. He loved attending his kids’ sporting events where he was their biggest fan. Spencer was a huge MSU fan. He also enjoyed working with his hands. Spencer built and worked on golf carts in his spare time and also enjoyed spending time outdoors. Drumming was also a pastime that Spencer enjoyed immensely. He was a former member of the Glen Erin Pipe Band and had fond memories of performing with his fellow members. Spencer had a special place in his heart for his German Shepherd Maggie.

Spencer is survived by his wife, Brandy Lowe; children, Sophia Grace Lowe, Madison Denoma Drake; parents, Ray and Karen Drake; siblings, Sarah (Bryan) Gilpin of Brighton, Stuart (Belinda) Drake of Grand Rapids; nephews, Andrew Gilpin, Nathan Gilpin; and his dog, Maggie.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Lorraine Werner and William and Marcella Drake.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at 11 A.M. at the Bethany House Chapel 703 E. Main St., DeWitt, MI 48820. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Chapel. A luncheon will follow immediately after the service. A private burial will take place at the DeWitt Cemetery.
