Stephen William Lunsford

Stephen William Lunsford, age 45, of Lansing, passed away on August 14, 2023, surrounded by those he loved the most. He was born on November 13, 1977, in Ferriday, Louisiana, to Stephen and Colleen (Kreiling) Gilbert. On October 30, 2012, he married the love of his life, Tanya Young, in Mason, Michigan.

Steve was a hard-working man. He owned his own business and worked tirelessly in the Lansing area as a drywall installer. He took great pride in his work and providing for his family. Steve loved spending time in the great outdoors fishing, camping, and swimming with his children. He loved playing pool and riding his “one-of-a-kind” motorcycle. On summer evenings, Steve could often be found with his friends and family sitting around a bonfire enjoying each other’s company. It seems to us that he is gone away from us much too soon but we take comfort in knowing how much he loved us and that he is now watching over us from above. He will forever be loved and missed by his family and many friends.

Those left behind are; his loving wife, Tanya; children, Sierra Lunsford, Mariah Lunsford, and Dylan Lunsford; step-children, Michael Thatcher, Sabrina (Gage) Allen, and Leila Thatcher; grandchildren, Skylyn Vanness and Damon Thatcher; parents, Colleen (Phil) Cole; mother-in-law, Karen Riggs; and many friends and acquaintances.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Gilbert; father-in-law, Thomas Young; and his grandparents, Frank and Luella Kreiling.

A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home, 206 W. Lawrence Ave, Charlotte, MI, on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 1:00 PM. Family will receive friends during a time of visitation from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, just prior to the service.
