Syble LaVerne Mattea age 85 of Charlotte, MI, died Friday, October 08, 2010 at the Eaton Community Hospice House in Charlotte. Mrs. Mattea was born Oct. 25, 1924 in Baytown, TX the daughter of Neal and Margainie (Bridges) Blankenship and had been a Charlotte resident for 15 years coming from Texas. She had the distinction of being a lifelong friend of Mickey Gilley and was president of his fan club. Surviving are: her husband of 62 years, Charles Mattea; 3 sons, Charles (Jan) Mattea of Houston, TX, Richard (Ann) Mattea of Olivet and Keith (Melissa) Mattea of Colorado; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother, Mark (Patricia) Blankenship of Austin, TX and sister, Joy (Ralph) Lane of Dallas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Rev. Jack Brown of the Olivet Congregational Church officiating. Interment will be in the Bosworth Cemetery, Olivet. Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M. Monday at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may go to the Eaton Community Hospice, 2675 S.
