My dear husband, Terry Litwiller, peacefully left us late in the evening on March 28, 2024. His declining health the last few years had taken too much of the man we knew and loved, and we find comfort knowing he is now safe at Home, restored and whole.
Terry was born to Laurence and Mary (Benner) Litwiller on November 13, 1947, in the Ithaca, MI, area, where he spent his growing up years. Upon confession of faith, Terry was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, in his youth. On September 8, 1967, he married me, Wanda (Gearig). We spent the first year of married life in 1-W service in Grand Rapids, MI, before settling back in the Ithaca area.
In 1976 we moved to Wilmore, KS. Here we lived for the next 45 years, doing a variety of work including auto mechanics, fuel delivery, and parts sales. The people of that area became dear to us, and Terry enjoyed those he lived and worked around, giving his service to the community in different ways.
Terry’s Christian life had its difficulties, but his testimony was that God never left him alone, always drawing him back to Himself. In 2009 Terry found grace to bring his burden to God, telling Him, “Take it all.” And God did. He was right there waiting. From that time on, Terry’s faith was precious to him, and we found fellowship with our brothers and sisters at the Bethel congregation at Greensburg, KS.
Growing health concerns prompted a move back to Michigan in 2022, where we have found a home and friendship at the Maple View Retirement Community. We’re deeply grateful for the loving care from the Maple View staff.
He leaves behind me, his loving wife Wanda; his siblings: Rodney and Lois Litwiller, Versailles, MO; Kathy and Doug Wesenberg, Ithaca, MI; Roger and Barb Litwiller, Ithaca, MI; Dennis Litwiller, Ithaca, MI; Lindon and Linette Litwiller, Versailles, MO; Martin and Arlene Litwiller, Newbern, AL; Mark and Rachel Litwiller, Versailles, MO; Wanda’s siblings: Karen and Joe Yost, Greensburg, KS; Ervin and Angela Gearig, Ithaca, MI; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law.
Funeral services will be held on April 2, 2024, at the Newark Mennonite Church, Ithaca, MI, with ministers Mike Litwiller, Darin Litwiller, and James Leid officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 1, 2024, from 3 P.M. to 4 P.M. at the Maple View Retirement Community and from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Newark Mennonite Church. Burial will take place at the Hayes Road Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions in Terry's memory to Maple View Retirement Community, 4396 S. Luce Rd., Ithaca, MI 48847.
