Wayne D Komejan

Wayne D. Komejan, age 76, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, July 14, 2023. He was born September 28, 1946, in Zeeland, Michigan, the son of Jason and Beatrice (Zwiers) Komejan. Wayne graduated from Zeeland High School in 1964. While growing up in Zeeland, Wayne’s family owned and operated the Coliseum Roller Rink. It was there that Wayne learned to play the organ and skate proficiently. He enjoyed these hobbies throughout the majority of his life. He went on to attend Davenport University where he studied accounting. Soon after graduation Wayne was called to faithfully serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On May 6, 1967, he married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Baird. Wayne had a passion for old Ford tractors and was especially fond of his 1953 Ford Golden Jubilee. Wayne and Barbara loved their cabin in Johnannesburg, which Wayne painstakingly designed and built on his own. He also enjoyed watching college basketball and fast pitch softball but his family was what brought him the greatest joy in life.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barb; sons, Brian (Carolyn) Komejan of Kinross, Mike Komejan of Grand Haven; grandchildren, Kaylee Komejan, Amber Ward, Derek Ward, and Alea Ward.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wayne's honor to Eaton Community Palliative Care, 2675 S Cochran, Charlotte, MI 48813 or to Immanuel Community Reformed Church, 3200 Delta Drive, Lansing, Michigan 48906.

In keeping with Wayne’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
