William Joseph Welch, Jr.

William J. Welch, Jr., of Charlotte, Michigan, age 70, passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016 at the Hospice House of Mid Michigan in Lansing after an extended illness. William was born August 21, 1946 in Corpus Christi, Texas the son of William J. and Dorris E. (Carlson) Welch. He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps having served in the Viet Nam War. “Semper Fi” He retired from the Government of the United States of America following 38 years of loyal service for the Defense Logistics Information Service, Hart-Doyle-Inouye Federal Center. He loved computers, electronic gadgets, road trips to New York and playing ice hockey. He loved his wife, Joyce, dearly. She preceded him in death June 27, 2014. Surviving are: three daughters, Cara Marie Welch of Argentina, Sherri Lynn (Tim) Chambers of Traverse City and Tammy Ann Niedzielski of Battle Creek; step son, C. J. (Julie) VanSyckle of Charlotte; 6 grandchildren; his sister, Lorraine Smith; sister-in-law, Marilyn Haun; nieces, Leslie McNeil and Diane Smith; nephew, Billie Sacco; 3 great nieces and 2 great nephews.
