Wilmina Arlene Wesenberg

Our Mom and Grandma Wilmina Arlene Mininger Wesenberg left us to be with Jesus on January 22, 2018; just ten days shy of her 91st birthday. Grandma was born February 1, 1927 in Newark Township, Gratiot County Michigan the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Peters) Mininger. At a young age she was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite and spent the rest of her life faithful to her Lord. Grandma married Stanley Wesenberg on March 29, 1953. They enjoyed forty-two years together. She devotedly cared for him as his health declined and he passed in 1995. Four children were born into their home. Grandma was a hard worker and always ready to help on the farm where needed. Grandma left an example to each and every one of us through her submissive, quiet, loving way. She loved her grandchildren most of all. Having them visit brought her such joy. She always had pop, candy, bacon, soup and lots of hugs with every visit. Grandma especially loved listening to Don and her great grandchildren sing to her. Her favorites were "Jesus Loves Me" & "My Jesus Has Broad Shoulders". Although her sight was limited she could definitely still see the humor in life. The laughter around grandma was abundant especially when she was with her sisters. Grandma lived her last year of life at Mapleview Assisted Living. The residents and staff became family to her. The love and care she received was overwhelming. Left to Cherish memories are her four children, Coleen (Rod) Dickman, Alma, MI; William (Fern) Wesenberg, Ithaca, MI; Timothy Wesenberg, Ithaca, MI; and Mark (Rose) Wesenberg, Middleton, MI; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Elaine Mininger, Perrinton, Michigan; Ruthie Nichols, Montezuma, Kansas; one brother, Don (Greta) Mininger, Ithaca, Michigan; two sisters in law, Lafrieda Mininger, and Barb Mininger both of Barron, Wisconsin. Grandma was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one granddaughter, three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 26, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the Newark Mennonite Church 3446 S. Alger Rd., Ithaca with Ministers Mike Litwiller, Darin Litwiller, and Gary Mininger officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the church.
