Winifred (Rennard) Young

Winifred Young, age 90 of Jackson, MI, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2011 at her residence. She was formerly of the Hastings/Nashville area and had also resided in the Wayne/Westland area of Michigan. Winifred was born July 29, 1920 in England the daughter of John and Ada (Sedgwick) Rennard. She was a “War Bride” having met and married Robert E. Young during World War II in England while she was serving in the Royal Air Force (1941-44) and he was serving in the U. S. Army Air Force. After coming to the United States, she had been employed at Sears, Hudsons and in the dietary department of Beyer Memorial Hospital in Ypsilanti, MI. She was a Past Noble Grand of Hastings Hiawatha #53 Rebekahs, Past Noble Grand of Rebekahs in Wayne MI and was currently a member of the Martha Rebekah Lodge #2 of Jackson. She had also served in various District Chairs of the Rebekahs. Surviving are: 2 sons, Robert A. (Susan) Young of Brooklyn and James E. Young of Munith; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Young, daughter, Martha A. Wolfe, Son, Ronald E. Young, brother, Alan Rennard, sister, Marguerite Rennard and a grand son, Garold Sills. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte, MI with Rev. Philip Hobson officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. Tuesday with a Rebekah Lodge Memorial service being held at 7:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
