Zelma Irene (Short) Seiler was born August 29, 1927, to John A. and Martha (Wyse) Short, in Fulton County, Ohio. She passed away on January 24, 2021, in Gratiot County, Michigan at the age of 93. Zelma attended Archbold and Stryker schools and graduated from Archbold Public Schools with the class of 1945. Later she graduated from Ontario Mennonite Bible Institute in 1958. In November of 1963 she married Verle Seiler in Pettisville, Ohio. He preceded her in death in 2006. They moved to Carson City, Michigan and raised four children together there. Zelma is survived by four children: Martha Seiler of Carson City, Edward Seiler of Carson City, Geneva Delong of Ithaca, and Steve (Melissa) Seiler of Shepherd, Michigan. Four grandchildren: Dakota, Cheyenne, Rachelle, and Dalton Delong, all of Ithaca, Michigan. Zelma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Verle, and all five of her brothers and sisters. According to Zelma’s wishes and COVID-19 precautions, a private graveside service and interment will be held at Hayes Road Cemetery in Gratiot County, Michigan. A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the Mt. Calm Mennonite Church in Carson City. The family would like to thank the staff at Maple View for the outstanding, loving care provided to Zelma which kept her comfortable during her stay.
